Digital stories bring events, places and people to life through film, soundscapes and narrative. Your digital storytelling can help people connect with the past in new ways.
Volunteer role: Digital Storyteller
Time frame: March – November 2016. You don’t need to commit to the whole time, as there are opportunities to be involved throughout. Volunteers will need to attend digital storytelling workshops, spend time independently devising stories, and working with others to create digital stories.
Location: Venues across London. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Purpose: To bring to life the stories of South Asian soldiers’ experiences of war.
Tasks: Devising stories from existing research into the experiences of South Asian soldiers and telling these stories creatively, using images, audio, film, text, and animation to engage audiences.
Skills required: An interest in story-telling, film-making, film directing and editing, and audience engagement. An ability to identify gaps in information when telling a story.
Support/training provided: Workshops and technical support will be available to help you develop your ideas and see them through.
Other roles you might be interested in: As Digital Storyteller, you may want to be involved in the research beforehand or in designing the website where these stories will be showcased. We welcome volunteers who want to do it all!
